How to convert an EML file to text online
- Add the file. Drag the .eml onto the box at the top of this page, or click Choose EML File. Only .eml files are accepted, up to 4 MB.
- Click Convert to Text. The subject, From, To, Cc and Date lines are written first, then the message as plain text. HTML emails are converted to readable text with links and table content kept.
- Save the file. It downloads automatically and a Download Text button appears in case your browser blocked it. Open it in Notepad or any editor.
- One email per conversion, 4 MB maximum.
- Attachments are listed at the end of the text file, not saved as files.
- Images are skipped; encrypted (S/MIME) messages cannot be converted online.
EML to TXT online converter is a small service we run. Your .eml is uploaded over HTTPS, converted in memory, and the text file is returned to your browser.
The file is not stored after the conversion completes, is not read by anyone, and is not used for anything else.

How to convert a folder of EML files to text
Five steps. The free trial runs the same steps and converts the first 25 items in each folder so you can check the output.
Install and open the software
Download the 75 MB installer, run it and open Advik EML to Text Converter. Outlook is not needed.
Add files or a whole folder
Click Select Files for a few emails, or Select Folder to load every .eml and .emlx inside a folder and its sub-folders.
Select EML Files
Verify and select EML files and click Next button.
Choose TXT as the saving option
Pick TXT from the saving options list. Attachments are saved in a folder named after each email.
Convert and check the result
Click Convert. When it finishes, the output folder opens with one .txt per email and the original folder tree.
